Born and raised in Weatherford, Texas, Joel grew up spending time on various parts of the Brazos River in and around Parker County. Skipping rocks, swimming and fishing in the mighty Brazos through his early childhood left a significant impression on him. Joel found peace and comfort on the banks of the Brazos as the years went y and the concrete relentlessly flowed in and around the Weatherford area. The Brazos has always served as a close getaway from whatever life threw his way. "The historical significance alone is enough to warrant its safe keeping and stewardship. The Brazos River is sacred and she needs us now more than ever."
